I wrote a guide on installing it with AlmaLinux back in 2021, but these days RockyLinux seems to be gaining more popularity, and quite a few things have changed, so I’m writing a new guide.
These days, it seems accounts are created as linuxuser for security reasons.
When entering commands, sudo keeps getting in the way, so if you don’t need to worry about security, try creating a root account instead.
sudoAfter running the command above, set the password to the one previously issued by Vultr.
You can set it to a password like A!fc20dh1T2ajs!afk.
Same as before.
dnf erase podman buildah
sudo dnf updatesudo dnf config-manager --add-repo https://download.docker.com/linux/centos/docker-ce.repo
sudo dnf -y install docker-ce docker-ce-cli containerd.io docker-compose-plugin
sudo systemctl --now enable dockerdocker compose version
Docker Compose version v2.24.2
That completes the installation.
